Pool Rock Plantation Manor is a 5,300 sq ft antebellum house. The original part of the house may have been built in 1758 and is a Federal design while the last addition to the house was built in 1850 and is Italianate with some Greek revival features. These two houses are connected by a two story hallway to form a single building. In antebellum days Pool Rock Plantation was knows as Manor Plantation.

It is situated on Pool Rock Road 1.2 miles off North Carolina highway 39, 8.4 miles above I85; about 8 miles from Virginia. Pool Rock Road continues on for less than a mile to Kerr Lake which is a 50,000 acre manmade lake. Our house has few immediate neighbors and is backed by woods leading to the marsh areas of the lake containing a Herron rookery. Most of the peninsula is woodlands devoted as a deer reserve.

The 5.2 acres includes a 3,700 square foot reception/conference center with a 1,200 sq ft dance floor. The reception center has been used for zumba classes, dance lessons, parties and wedding receptions. We have renovated the pool behind the house but the tennis courts have not yet been repaired. Susan is an LCSW and has retired from a 20 year private practice in Baton Rouge. She is looking forward to doing couples retreats here at Pool Rock Plantation Manor.
